MARMA Stand

The “Interactive Map of Russian Regions,” created by the MARMA laboratory of current technologies, is a digital atlas of the country. Forum guests point a smartphone camera at any of the 89 regions on the map, and a short film immediately launches on the screen, showing how the region lives, what it produces, and what traditions and landmarks define it. Nikas Safronov gave the map an artistic frame, painting it in the style of folk ornaments. The “Russian Teleport” project became a natural continuation of this digital story: an art object in the form of a special cabin where visitors step inside and the system launches an audiovisual program. Contemporary ethno compositions sound inside, gently carrying the listener into the unique cultural landscape of different parts of Russia. The main artistic accent is a black-and-white engraving created from Nikas Safronov's authorial concept.
